Panvel Municipal Corporation Advances Digital Healthcare Adoption Under ABDM with Support from Docterz

Following Panvel’s selection as a model district under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, PMC is equipping healthcare personnel with practical skills through training facilitated by Docterz

Mumbai, 23rd October: Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) is advancing the adoption of digital healthcare systems across its government hospitals and clinics through a hands-on training initiative conducted on October 8, 2026, at Jyeshth Nagarik Sabhagruha, Panvel. The session was facilitated by Docterz, a doctor-led healthcare technology company founded by eminent paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, to help medical staff incorporate digital systems into their everyday clinical and administrative workflows.

Selected by the National Health Authority as a model district under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Panvel has an opportunity to demonstrate how the mission’s objectives can translate into everyday healthcare practice. PMC is leading this effort by building the capacity of its healthcare workforce, with the experience potentially offering useful learnings for other districts pursuing similar initiatives.

“Panvel is taking a leading role in translating the vision of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission into practice, with a focus on equipping our healthcare teams to make digital systems part of everyday patient care. We believe that successful adoption begins with the people who use these systems, and this training is an important step in building that confidence across our hospitals and clinics. The experience gained here can also offer valuable lessons for other districts looking to advance their digital health initiatives,” said Dr. Anand Gosavi, Medical Officer Of Health, PMC

The session brought together approximately 200 participants, including more than 25 doctors, as well as nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel and ward staff. Through demonstrations and guided exercises using the Docterz platform on desktop and Android and iOS applications, participants explored patient registration, queue management, electronic medical records (EMRs), digital prescriptions and patient-record sharing. The training also covered the creation of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers for patients who were not already registered.

Participants entered sample patient complaints, diagnoses and prescriptions through an ABDM-integrated workflow before generating printed prescriptions. These exercises illustrated how digital systems can help organise patient flow, improve the maintenance and retrieval of clinical information, and reduce repetitive paperwork. They also highlighted practical considerations for public healthcare facilities, including infrastructure availability and the need for accessible, user-friendly systems.

“Technology is most useful when doctors can see how it applies to their own clinical settings. At Panvel, medical teams experienced how patient registration, queue management, documentation and prescriptions can come together in a practical workflow. Their enthusiasm was encouraging, particularly as they explored how these tools could be used at their own health centres. While infrastructure remains a challenge in some government facilities, accessible technology can offer a starting point. We are pleased to support PMC’s efforts by helping medical professionals reduce routine administrative work and devote more time to patient care,” said Dr Atish Laddad, Founder of Docterz.

The initiative brings together PMC’s leadership in strengthening public healthcare delivery and Docterz’s role in supporting the practical adoption of digital systems. As Panvel advances its work under ABDM, the training provides a foundation for healthcare personnel to apply what they have learnt in their own facilities.
