1) What is your good name?

My name is Ankit Sarawgi, and I’m the Managing Director of Saya Stationeries Pvt. Ltd.

2) Provide a brief introduction to your profile. What motivated you to enter your field, and what key principles drive your work?

I am second generation of our family business and I have been in stationery for more than 15 years. What led me to this domain was a strong belief that high quality products can make daily work simpler and smarter. My principles in business are: honesty, creativity, and customer satisfaction. I am a strong believer in long term relationship and adding value to our products in time.

3) Share some of your notable achievements and any industry recognition or awards you’ve received.

The Saya Stationeries has been established from small stationery to major growing brand in India. Today, we are the world’s leading office stationery manufacturer and we export to 15+ countries and our products are used by millions of people every day. We are also driven by having launched successful product lines like Calsy (calculators) and Stick-Eee (adhesive stationery), which has been well-accepted in the market.

4) Highlight a specific contribution or innovation you’ve made in your field. How has it impacted or transformed the industry?

One big step we took was to develop ready-to-use stationery kits for conferences and corporate events. These comprise of branded Files & Folders, Calculators, Scissor, Paper Products and Office Essentials – all personalised. This made life so much easier for school, office, event planners and gave their events a professional feel. Another big one was increasing the quality of our products through our eco packaging and materials, to help make our industry more sustainable.

5) Discuss a significant challenge you’ve faced and the innovative solutions or strategies you implemented to overcome it.

During the coronavirus pandemic, we encountered myriad disruptions such as shipping delays and concerns over worker safety. But we were quick to adapt by keeping our team safe, ensuring correct and timely fulfillment of orders and taking care of our team and their families. It kept our customer trust high and allowed us to rise from the situation more committed and prepared.

6) What’s your vision for the future? How do you plan to continue making a difference or influencing positive change in your field?

I aspire to make Saya a global name in stationery —a label they associate with smart, useful, and sustainable products. What we hope to do is continue to expand online, create new products based on what our customers are asking for, and go into more countries. Also, I want to continue investing in education and social causes, so our business can help support communities while responsibly expanding.

7) Offer a piece of advice for individuals aspiring to excel in your field. What valuable lessons have you learned on your journey?

The best advice I can give is this: know your customers really well. Observe how they use products, what challenges they encounter and what can make their life easier. Be open to change, continue to learn and don’t be afraid to give new things a try. And most of all, work honestly and passionately — the two things that will always pay off in the end.
